So, it's been a while since I updated you guys on what's been going on in my life. Well, last month was National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo. You write 50,000 words of fiction in one month. I did it. YES! I couldn't believe it when, at 11 pm on November 30th I checked my word count and it read 50,013. For my first year of NaNo, I did pretty amazing, and most importantly, I didn't give up. I will be writing the sequel to "End This War" for the July NaNo, so look for updates about that once summer hits. I may post snippets of the story up here if people are interested. :)

Now, the date part! Sophomore semi is coming up this Friday! Well, I'm not going to bore you with too many details, but this boy that I kind of sort of like quite a bit asked me on a date, and that all went well. So, since he's a junior, I asked him to semi, and he said yes, so now I have a date and I'm very excited. This will be a very fun night! I have an amazing dress, I'm on the semi comittee, so I know it'll be at least a pretty good dance, I have an amazing date, and to top it all off, I have amazing friends who will be there too. Everything is going to be great! :D

Other exciting things... hmmm. Well, I got to see my brother for Thanksgiving break, which was awesome since he's up at college now. We went to pick him up, which is a three hour drive, and stayed until Monday (last week) because my mom didn't want to drive back that late at night. So, I got to skip a day of school, go to the University Mall in Burlington Vermont, and eat at an iHop for lunch. Could it get much better? Oh, well that was also where I got my dress and some amazing new Airwalks with splatter paint designs on them, so I guess it could. :)

Sooooo, I've been sick for like two weeks now. It started out as just a cough, but it's a bad cough now. Like, my throat has been terribly sore for a few days now. I've also been getting stomach aches and headaches and stuff like that. I also have an unrelated UTI (type of infection) but I get them frequently so I wasn't too surprised. This UTI is worse than they normally are though. :(
So, I've been forced to miss more school, which will force me to have a ton of makeup work. Funnnnn stuff. Anyone wanna give me presents to make me feel better? lol

I finished The Vampire Diaries series last week, and it was really good. Better than Twilight in my opinion (no one shoot me please). If you're looking for something to read, I would definitely suggest it. Today while I was bored and didn't have anything else to read as I sat in bed, I decided to finish my book for english, Waiting for the Rain. In class we were on chapter eight. There are 16 chapters and I finished them all. My class reads books slow.

One of my birthday presents for my birthday was a digital camera from my dad (I went and picked it out lol) and I LOVE it. I've always enjoyed photography, but never had a camera to take pictures with, until now. :) So, if you notice me posting photography, that would be why.

Soooo, my sixteenth birthday is on Monday, the 21st. =D
I'm verrrry excited! My party won't be until next month, but it's going to be amazing! We're renting out a hall in my town, and there's a dance floor and music table. My stepbrother, who's a chef and bartender, is going to be making the food and serving nonalcoholic drinks to everyone. (yay! he's awesome!) I really really really want a camera for my birthday, so I'm hoping so much that my dad got me one. I love photography, but it's really hard to take photos without a camera. XD
If anyone wants to make me birthday drawings, feel free. =D

Also, tomorrow morning (technically today) I'm volunteering at a carnival with my stepbrother and his girlfriend and my mother. The carnival is to raise money for an organization my stepbrother and his girlfriend work at, where they give horse riding lessons to children with special needs. It is such a great program, and I'm so happy to be able to help! We've been making posters for the last two days, and my mom made some wicked nice gift baskets for a raffle. I thank Shaws and Starbucks so much for their generous gift card donations to the cause. =) Tomorrow I'll be working at the face painting station, which will be the best. ;) I have volunteer face painting experience, so hopefully this will go well. =D

I'm just realizing how much it is severely cutting into my DA time. I have a ton of writing to post, I just haven't had time to do it yet. I might post stuff this weekend, but I'm not sure yet. Sorry I haven't posted in a while. :(

What I've learned this summer

So, I've learned something that I think is pretty important over this summer. I used to completely rely on my best friends, just waiting for the moments I could be with them again. Then, I was always disappointed when they could never hang out with me or didn't seem to want to. At the end of last school year, all of them said they were pretty sure that we'd be able to hang out a ton over the summer. After having my hopes crushed once again, when I started realizing what they had said wasn't true, and that they would barely be able to see me at all over the summer, I finally realized that I can survive without them. I also realized that while I love them, I do have a lot of other friends who like to hang out with me and seem to make more of an honest effort to make sure that we can hang out. I don't know what I would have done this summer without these other friends, since they were the ones who saved me from a summer of sitting at home by myself. I now know that if I do have to leave my best friends behind to do something better for me, I will be able to get through it without them. In my eyes, best friends should make a good effort to be able to see each other, and I know that I sometimes risked everything to be able to arrange plans to be with them. I'm done sacrificing everything on my part and feeling like I have to move around any other plans just because they can only see me once every month for some reason. After this summer I finally know that I can live without them, and if I have to for any reason that will be better for me, I will. I'm done getting my hopes crushed after false promises, I'm done sacrificing everything that could make me happy, and I'm done relying on them to make me happy. I have other friends, and I'm going to do things to make me happy from now on.
